I love the way the clouds overhead create shifting patterns of light on the Grand Canyon landscape above the Colorado River.

Wish I was there – some day!
I’ve hiked halfway down into the canyon twice. That’s about 6 1/2 miles. Going down is uneasy, but coming back up is grueling.
Hmm. Don’t know that I could do it these days. My knees don’t like going downhill. Going up is fine but maybe not after I have crippled myself going down.
The first time I went down I hammered my knees all the way down (I was 27) and I thought everything was simple. Sat and ate lunch at Indian Gardens halfway down. When I tried to stand up, I realized that both knees were jammed. I had to hike back up in the the heat of the day with two straight legs. I got a lot smarter the next time I made that hike.
